About Aileen

Hi, I am Aileen. I specialize in macro photography (fine art) prints on archival watercolor and other museum-quality papers. Driven to evolve from award-winning strobe portraiture after CBI from multiple traumatic brain injuries (sports are fun!) and promote autism-related CBI / CTE awareness, I shoot the small things at hand, the flora and fauna underfoot or in the Ozark Highlands. Also photographed are landscape expanses of my corner of the Natural State and the structural, however it presents in our ecosystem.

In it all is a celebration of nature and human connection, an honor to those dear grandmothers who snuck coffee to childhood tables stacked with gardening catalogs; who afforded me frozen mutism bellied in a boundless energy; who made endless blooms and verdant plots, ubiquitous hope for tiny feet planted here, now, again. Perch us again on those swings between mimosa and persimmon. These images are their gifts, our mothers, our nature. These blooms are their gifts, annual YAWPs and perennial graces—their seed, root, and bark carried on loyal sunrise, we the new caretakers. Aileen 2020

In this moment, together, we are a part of it. Have fun making butterflies and stay vertical. You look at the stars tonight. I'll look, too. ~Aileen
